Verbform is a local-first English irregular-verb trainer built by Aleksei Cherepanov (the “Service Provider”). All of your verb progress, streak data, and preferences are stored on your device and never transmitted to us. No account. No cloud sync. No cross-app tracking.
What we store on your device
- Per-verb mastery state (one entry per verb form: base, past simple, past participle).
- Spaced-repetition schedule data (next review date, interval, easiness, repetition count).
- Your streak history (current streak, longest streak, last completed date).
- Your preferences (reminder time, onboarding state, welcome-back banner dismissal).
- Your in-app subscription state, mirrored from Apple’s StoreKit 2 entitlements.
This data lives in a local SwiftData store (with one shared App Group container so the home-screen widget can read your streak). It is never uploaded.
What leaves your device
- None of your verb progress. No account, no server, no sync.
- Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports via Firebase. These contain no progress data, no personal information, no IDFA, and no precise location. They include screen names, tap events, app version, iOS version, device model, and coarse country-level geography so we can fix bugs and understand which features are used.
Third-party services
The Application uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics for Firebase — aggregate product analytics.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting.
- Firebase Remote Config — copy variants and A/B testing.
- Apple StoreKit — in-app purchases and subscription state.
Firebase Analytics is configured with ad personalization disabled and IDFV collection deactivated. No data is shared with third-party data brokers or ad networks. No cross-app or cross-website tracking occurs, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt ships in this version of the app.
Location
Verbform does not collect precise or approximate location from your device. The only geographic signal sent is the coarse country code derived by Firebase from the request IP, used solely for aggregate analytics.
Notifications
If you enable the daily reminder, we schedule a local notification via iOS’s UNUserNotificationCenter. No notification content is sent from a server — the reminder fires locally on your device. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app continues to function.
Purchases
Verbform Pro is sold via Apple’s StoreKit 2 as a monthly or annual subscription. Apple handles the billing and subscription record under Apple’s privacy policy. We verify your entitlement on-device via Transaction.currentEntitlements; no purchase history is transmitted to us. Family Sharing is supported.
Migration from Irregular Verbs Training (the previous app)
If you previously used “Irregular Verbs Training” (this app’s earlier name), Verbform v2.0 reads your existing progress from UserDefaults keys written by the old app on first launch, copies them into the new SwiftData store, and clears the legacy keys. Migration runs entirely on-device. Migrated users are granted lifetime Pro access as a thank-you for sticking with the app since 2018; this entitlement is recorded locally and never leaves your device.
Opt-out rights
You can halt all collection of information by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes available through iOS or the App Store.
Data deletion
Open Settings → Data → Reset all progress inside the app to wipe every verb’s progress, streak, and entitlement state. Because the app has no server, deleting on-device is total deletion. Uninstalling the app also removes all stored data.
Children
Verbform is rated 4+ but is positioned for adult learners (A2–C1 English level). The Service Provider does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Subscription purchases route through Apple’s Ask to Buy / Family Sharing controls when applicable. No personal information is collected from any user.
Security
The Service Provider takes the confidentiality of your information seriously. Because verb progress data never leaves your device, the primary safeguard is iOS’s own sandboxing and encryption at rest. No security system can prevent all potential issues, but we endeavor to follow Apple’s platform guidance for local data storage.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
This privacy policy is effective as of May 6, 2026.
